Adobe Photoshop File > New Error?

Hello! I work with the program Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0, and I have had this problem where I click file, new, and then it freezes. And then after about a minute, an error pops up.
“Adobe Photoshop Elements (Editor) has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.”
Any help would be grateful. I would love you with all my heart, seeing its a huge pain. <3 thank you so much.
